Oligarch in disgrace
A court in Kiev on September 2 sent billionaire businessman Ihor Kolomoysky into custody, but with the possibility of bail in the amount of more than 500 million hryvnias . The businessman's lawyers said that he would not make bail, but they intend to appeal.
Igor Kolomoisky, who was born in Ukraine, is a citizen of Israel and Cyprus. At one point they were considered the second person in Ukraine in terms of personal capital.
According to the investigation, over the period from 2013 to 2020 Kolomoisky took out the country and legalized more than half a billion hryvnias using the banking infrastructure controlled by him.
In February this year, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Economic Security Bureau searched Kolomoisky's home, but his name was not mentioned in the press release at the time.
In his video address on September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not name Kolomoisky personaly, but claimed that, "it will not be as it was before for those who robbed Ukraine and put themselves above the law"
