Ukraine has launched a new initiative TrophyLab

Ukraine has launched a new initiative to analyse and share knowledge about captured Russian military equipment. Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the programme, called TrophyLab, which enables both Ukrainian and international arms manufacturers to access data and even physical components from seized Russian weapons.

According to Fedorov, every piece of equipment recovered on the battlefield — including missiles, drones, and vehicles — represents a valuable opportunity to better understand Russian military technology. The goal is to use these insights to strengthen global security and improve defence systems.

The platform includes a catalogue featuring information on more than 115 types of captured Russian equipment, such as munitions, aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Defence companies can request access to this material to support research and development.

Since assuming office in January, Fedorov has prioritised technological innovation in Ukraine’s defence sector, focusing on increasing efficiency and enhancing battlefield capabilities. A key element of this strategy has been the expanded use of drones to disrupt Russian supply lines and conduct offensive operations.

Speaking at NATO headquarters, Fedorov emphasised that Ukraine currently has a strategic “window of opportunity” as it continues to make gradual progress on the frontlines.
